Well they sort of team up with Matheson. Mr. King collaborated for the first time with his son Joe Hill on a short story called Throttle as part of a collection that was a tribute to Richard Matheson. Throttle was based on Matheson’s brilliant short story Duel, which was also made into a TV movie (which was later converted to a feature film) starring Dennis Weaver and directed by first time director Steven Spielberg (OK enough name dropping!) Well now King and Hill are collaborating with IDW Publishing to bring the story to life in comic form in a 4 issue series called Road Rage. IDW also publishes Joe Hill’s acclaimed comic-book series Locke & Key.
Road Rage adapts both Throttle and Duel to comic-book form. Throttle is up first, adapted by IDW Chief Creative Officer and Zombies vs Robots co-creator Chris Ryall and artist Nelson Daniel (The Cape). The story, which unfolds over two issues, will be released in both print and digital form on February 15 and comes with a temporary tattoo (presumably the print version only).
